Loons is an upcoming 2016 American live action-animated action comedy film directed by Ben Stiller, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, It is the third live-action feature-length film starring the Looney Tunes characters and is a sequel to the 2003 film Looney Tunes Back in Action, The film is scheduled to be released on December 23, 2016

Synopsis

After returning from the U.K for a long time, Darius Drake (Shia LaBeouf) finds out that the home he loved and known has become a cartoon metropolis with familiar faces from Family Guy, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and more, just minutes after his arrival, a beautiful and talented con artist/thief (Shailene Woodley) gets him involved in a heist to steal the sacred "Red Rabbit" in the style of Bugs Bunny himself, the plan goes awry when Bugs, Daddy Duck, their girlfriend's and a gang of human/toon robbers show up at the same time, the robbers are also after the artefact and will do anything to claim it, Both Darius, Felicity and our wacky hero's escape and soon they go on a "Around the World in 80 Days" trip in order to unlock the secret of the mysterious treasure while Darius's family, The CIA, various assassins and cartoon vigilante groups chase after them.

Development

On September 19, 2012, it was announced that a new Looney Tunes reboot film is in development. Former Saturday Night Live cast member Jenny Slate is already on board as writer for the new movie. Jeffrey Clifford, Harry Potter producer David Heyman and Dark Shadows writers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are slated to produce the film. On August 27, 2014 writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz were hired to script the film, directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa were in talks to direct the film, while Steve Carell will star for the lead role.
